When I decided to do something about my laziness and weight gain I looked in to 2 different workouts – Insanity and P90X.
I had previously tried all of the celeb workout dvd’s but none of them had made a difference, and after doing Insanity I know why. The celeb workouts that I tried did not push me, and so weren’t making my body work hard enough to show any signs of improvement. Even after months of doing them I looked and felt exactly the same.
Insanity won out over P90X because it is a shorter course and you don’t need any special equipment to be able to do it. I have now completed this 60 day challenge, under the instruction of Shaun T.
It is true what you read – after you have finished the first 10 minute segment you feel like you have done really well and pushed yourself to your limits. The only problem is that you’ve only done the warm up!
After completing the first day after the fit test I felt like I couldn’t carry on. I didn’t even complete the full workout, but I didn’t give up. I figured that even if I miss the last 10 minutes every time for the first week then at least I am working my way up to being able to complete it. I feel that I need to point out that I did not stick to the diet – I work from my own diet which you can find here.
After the first week, things got slightly easier. By week 3 I found that I wanted to do an extra workout every day, but the second workout was one of the easier, slower paced workouts.
When I got to week 5 and started the new set of workouts, things got a lot harder again. You just have to push yourself that bit further – if you don’t, you get stuck in a rut, and your body won’t move forward.
Every time I did the fit test, it showed how far I had come from the last time. I found this was very motivational. I weighed myself at the end of every week but if I hadn’t lost any weight it didn’t bother me, because my clothes fit better and I could see the differences – which was better than dropping a few pounds that no-one would notice!
By the end of the 60 days I was pleased with the results and my fitness level – this challenge is certainly not for everyone – you have to push yourself and be ready to push yourself further even if you feel like you can’t take any more.
If you want the results then you have to put in the time and effort, nothing worth having is easy to get. No-one likes working out in a pool of their own sweat but the difference is unbelievable.
I did drop a dress size, and feel much more healthy. I can do a lot more and don’t get tired so easily – and I am very happy to say that I nearly have a perfectly flat stomach now!
